Some of the most decorated Paralympic shooting athletes will participate in the pistol competition from September 10 to 15. The city of Changwon is preparing to host the first WSPS World Championship in three years, and from September 10 to 15, attention will be focused on top world pistol athletes at the Changwon International Shooting Range.
Sareh Javanmardi, the most successful Paralympic pistol athlete of all time, is returning to the World Championship after a seven-year break. She is a four-time Paralympic Games champion and a five-time medalist. Javanmardi won three gold medals in the P2 discipline (Rio 2016, Tokyo 2020, Paris 2024) and one gold medal in P4 (Rio 2016).
Previously, she won her first title at the World Championships in Sule in 2014 (P2), as well as a silver medal in P2 at the Sydney championships in 2019. After that, she took a break from sports to give birth to her son Avash.
She currently ranks first in the world ranking for the P2 discipline. Furthermore, she holds qualifying records in P2 (580) and P4 (556); the latter record was set in Changwon at the 2024 World Cup, reports Paralympic.org.
Other shooting stars participating in the competition include Aysel Ozgan (Turkey), Jeongdu Cho (South Korea), Manish Narwal (India), Yang Xiaogong (USA), and Yang Chao (China).
