On Sunday, several flights traveling to and from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) experienced delays or cancellations, affecting both regional and international carriers.
Despite ongoing tensions, the carriers operating within the UAE maintained near full operational capacity, with major airlines increasing their destination network to meet the existing travel demand.
Regarding arrivals, flight EY662 originating from Doha was delayed by nearly one hour. Additionally, flight EY016 from Charlotte Douglas faced a delay of approximately 30 minutes, while EY008 from Boston was delayed by 52 minutes. EY014 from Atlanta was delayed by 25 minutes, and EY100 bound for Lisbon was delayed by close to 20 minutes. Flight EY542 heading to Istanbul was delayed by 32 minutes, and EY078 to Manchester was delayed for over an hour. Furthermore, EY858A to Sochi was delayed by 37 minutes.
One notable cancellation was flight EY475 to Jakarta, which was scheduled for 11:05 pm UAE time. Among other arrivals, flight EK 076 from Paris was delayed by more than five hours, and EK 398 to Bali was delayed by an hour.
Travel between Dubai and Jakarta saw delays or cancellations because of the temporary shutdown of Soekarno-Hatta International Airport (CGK), which was caused by volcanic ash.
In terms of arrivals, flight FZ 024 from Bahrain was cancelled, according to the carrier's flight tracker and information provided by Dubai Airports. Flight FZ1736 from Almaty was delayed by over an hour, while FZ 642 from Addis Ababa was delayed by more than 30 minutes. Flight FZ 1716 from Minsk was delayed for over two hours.
For departures, flight FZ 023 to Bahrain was cancelled on Sunday. From Sharjah, flight G9107 to Bahrain is cancelled for both Sunday and Monday, although flights G9101D, G9103, and G9105 are set to depart as planned. Moreover, flights G9068 and G9124 destined for Kuwait have been cancelled, while flight G9121 remains scheduled.
Departures from Abu Dhabi included flight 3LO44 to Kathmandu, which was delayed by 15 minutes, and 3L715 from Tbilisi, delayed by 22 minutes. Flight 3L764 from Tashkent experienced a delay of one hour and 15 minutes.
Other international flights impacted included Kam Air flight RQ 965 from Khost, which was delayed by more than 30 minutes, and Airblue flight PA430 from Lahore, which was cancelled. On the departure side, Pobeda flight DP 762 to Makhachkala was delayed by almost two hours, and UTair Aviation flight UT 734 to Grozny was delayed by about an hour and a half. Varesh Airlines VRH6801 to Tehran was delayed by nearly an hour, and Saudia Airlines flight SV570 to Jeddah was delayed by 18 minutes.
