Bean satu is considered very healthy. This article presents a simple way to prepare pure black bean satu at home that can be easily stored.
Bean satu is especially popular during hot weather as a refreshing drink. Bean satu is recognized as an excellent source of protein and other nutrients. It can be used not only to make a drink dissolved in water but also in various dishes, such as paratha.
Although satu is easy to find in stores, it is often not pure enough and does not have a pleasant taste. However, with a little effort, you can prepare pure bean satu yourself, which will significantly improve the taste of the resulting dishes and drinks.
Making homemade bean satu
The first step is to thoroughly clean the black beans. Then, they should be rinsed with clean water and completely dried, as there should be no moisture left in the beans.
Heat a heavy pot and heat clean sand in it. After heating, add the dry beans and roast them over low heat, stirring constantly. It is also recommended to lightly roast cumin seeds along with the beans to enhance the aroma and improve the taste of the satu.
When the beans are well roasted and crunchy, turn off the gas and let them cool completely. After cooling, gently crush the beans to separate the husk, and then remove this husk.
Place the roasted beans and cumin in a blender and grind until they reach a fine powder consistency. If a very fine satu is required, it should be sifted through a fine sieve. The finished satu must be packed completely dry and clean in an airtight container.
Tips for storing satu
For storage, always use clean and dry airtight containers; a glass container will be the best choice. When taking satu out of the container, always use a dry spoon to prevent moisture from getting into the product.
