For some time now, the presence of a leopard in the Nahtaur area of Bijnor had created an atmosphere of fear among local residents. This leopard used to roam around the village day and night, causing people to lose sleep. The animal was sometimes seen near fields, and sometimes near the village boundary.
Farmers working in the fields were particularly troubled. As evening approached, movement in the village also decreased. All villagers were worried about when this leopard would be caught.
Following complaints from the villagers, the Forest Department installed a cage near the village to resolve the issue. Monitoring was then initiated, and the Forest Department team kept a constant watch on the area.
Sadaruddin Nagar village, located in the Nahtaur area of Bijnor, had been seeing the leopard for several days. There had been previous reports of leopard attacks in Bijnor, which further increased the anxiety of the people due to the presence of this animal.
Villagers tried to look carefully around before going to the fields and avoided going out alone in the evening. Caution was also being exercised towards children and the elderly in homes. Villagers informed the Forest Department about this incident, and the Bharatiya Kisan Union had also demanded the capture of the leopard.
After the cage was set up, there was a wait of about five days. Finally, the news came that the entire village was waiting for—the leopard had been successfully trapped in the cage.
As soon as the villagers learned about the leopard being caught, they immediately rushed to the spot, and a large crowd gathered around the cage. Everyone wanted to see the leopard with their own eyes, which had created an atmosphere of fear throughout the village for the past few days.
Upon receiving information about the leopard being caught, the Forest Department team reached the site. The team requested people to maintain distance from the cage and began preparations for rescue after moving them back. After ensuring security arrangements, the team safely removed the leopard.
The village, where terror had prevailed due to the leopard for some time, was now breathing a sigh of relief. The leopard roaming around Sadaruddin Nagar village was now in the custody of the Forest Department, which brought great relief to the villagers.
