The capital city of Delhi is actively preparing for the BRICS summit, which will take place at India Mandapam over two days, September 12 and 13. Many prominent figures from around the world are expected to attend this event.
The administration has taken full responsibility for ensuring the successful execution of the summit. On Sunday, September 6, a rehearsal of the motorcade is scheduled from 9:00 AM to 10:00 PM. Consequently, traffic diversions and road traffic regulation will be in effect on major routes in Delhi.
Local residents and travelers have been advised to plan their journeys in advance, allow extra travel time, and prefer using public transport, especially the metro.
Passengers were also urged to adhere to the established diversion routes and follow the instructions of traffic police officers. Emergency and essential service vehicles will be given priority passage.
Officials previously inspected the route from India Mandapam to Indira Gandhi International Airport. During the inspection, special attention was paid to the condition of the roads, the presence of potholes, sidewalks, drainage systems, flooding issues, cleanliness, BRICS branding, and the overall appearance of the area.
India will chair BRICS for the first time on January 1, 2026. Previously, India hosted the chairmanship in 2012, 2016, and 2021. This year also marks the 20th anniversary of the creation of BRICS, making this conference in Delhi highly significant.
There is hope for the arrival of Russian President Vladimir Putin and Iranian President Masoud Pejeshkian at the meeting in Delhi. Speculation also exists regarding the possible participation of Chinese President Xi Jinping in the conference, although official confirmation of his visit is yet to be made.
