The design team reported that they have been assisting their client, Qing, for almost nine years in the construction of a 68 square meter chalet located by the sea in Bodega Bay, California. The coastal landscape, characterized by the persistent fog of this village, was the setting for the filming of The Birds, directed by Alfred Hitchcock, in 1963.
Over time, the team began receiving parabolas and poems from Qing, extracted from her writings known as 'The Chronicles of the Old Fool Building a House by the Sea.'
Without reading these texts, it would be difficult to understand the reasons that led a middle-aged, short Chinese doctor, originating from the Sierra Nevada foothills, to acquire land on the coastal road. This land is defined more by its vertical slope than by its actual area. Furthermore, the team would not have clarity on how and why she sought them out, considering that her older husband was not involved in the process and, according to her, would hardly see the house completed.
