Coach Petit declared that the Santa Clara athletes will dedicate themselves intensely and be fully prepared to secure the three points in the match against Rio Ave, which will take place in the fourth round of the I Liga football league.
During a press conference held at the São Miguel stadium in Ponta Delgada, on the eve of the game, the coach mentioned that Santa Clara aims for good performance and to achieve victory. He acknowledged that Rio Ave intends to react and score goals.
However, he guaranteed that the team from Vila do Conde will face a team on the island of São Miguel that seeks to maintain its development and recent positive results. For this reason, Petit predicts a complicated opponent but hopes that the Santa Clara field will serve as a true fortress to achieve the maximum number of points.
Petit emphasized that the Azores team has shown good work since the beginning of the season, being in good form, focused, and growing both individually and collectively, although maintaining a state of constant caution.
He stressed to the players that, given the length of the championship, it is crucial to accumulate many points to achieve the proposed objectives. He added that, playing at home with the support of the fans, the stadium should be the necessary fortress to win the three points.
The Santa Clara coach also expressed satisfaction with the squad, mentioning that they maintained a base from the previous season, with four or five players present for two or three years, in addition to incorporating a lot of youth. He concluded by saying that the current focus is to execute the work and continue the good weekly results achieved.
Santa Clara, which has eight points, will face Rio Ave, which has three points, next Sunday at 2:30 PM local time (3:30 PM in Lisbon), at the São Miguel stadium in Ponta Delgada.
