On the fifth day of the World Nomadic Games in Kyrgyzstan, Iran increased its total medal count by adding one gold and one bronze award, bringing the country's total to fifteen.
Mostafa Toghani won Iran's last gold medal in the Pahlevani wrestling category for weights over 100 kg. He defeated his Kyrgyz opponent by fall in the final, taking first place on the podium.
Mersad Shakeri also contributed to increasing Iran's medal tally by winning bronze in the Kurash competition. He beat his opponent from Turkmenistan with a score of 5:4 in the third-place match.
Currently, Iran has collected four gold, three silver, and eight bronze medals at the Games.
Gold medals were won by Reza Geytasi (mas-wrestling), Sajjad Soltaninejad (strength athlete), Mostafa Najafi (Alish/Gulesh wrestling), and Mostafa Toghani (Pahlevani wrestling).
Silver awards were received by Sadegh Azarang (Kurash), Mohsen Mirzaei (right-hand wrestling), as well as Iran's four-person touring team consisting of Nader Kazemi, Sajjad Jafari Gohari, Abbas Azimi, and Hamidreza Saeeda.
Bronze medals were won by Maryam Farahaniinia (mas-wrestling), Abolfazl Heidarimehr (Alish), Mohaddese Tabarak (right and left-hand wrestling), Amirreza Sahrai (Serium wrestling), Hassan Poluadi (male sambo -64 kg), Pouria Shokri (Kazakh Kuresh), and Mersad Shakeri (Kurash).
The 2026 World Nomadic Games, which gather athletes from all over the world to participate in various traditional sports and competitions, will continue in Kyrgyzstan until Sunday.
