New bridge over the Naryn River connects three districts with Namangan

According to the press service of the Road Committee under the Ministry of Transport, the construction of a new bridge over the Naryn River in Namangan region has been completed. This bridge connects the regional center with the districts of Uchqorgon and Naryn.

As part of this project, a new road with a length of 17.5 kilometers was also built. The bridge itself is 481.5 meters long and is one of the largest and longest structures built across the Naryn River in Uzbekistan since gaining independence.

Expected benefits of the new infrastructure

Tohirjon Orozov, chief engineer of the Namangan Regional Department of the Road Committee, reported that the new bridge will allow residents of the Uchqorgon and Naryn districts to reduce the distance to the regional center by 20 kilometers. In addition to reducing travel time and distance, the new transport infrastructure is expected to contribute to an increase in tourist flow through the border customs points of Uchqorgon and Kensay on the Uzbekistan-Kyrgyzstan border.

According to Orozov, the new road will also help reduce the probability of road accidents and traffic jams in the districts of Uchq and Naryn.

The construction work was carried out by the Tashkent Regional Branch of the Uzjulkupirk cluster. According to Sodiqjon Halilov, deputy director of the branch, more than 100 units of equipment and over 50 workers participated in the project. The bridge is equipped with 20 intermediate supports, and the total cost of the entire project amounted to 62 billion soms.
