Doctors successfully removed razor blade fragments from the stomach of 16-year-old boy in Hyderabad

At Osmania General Hospital (OGH) in Hyderabad, doctors successfully removed three fragments of razor blades from the abdomen of a 16-year-old boy. According to reports, the teenager swallowed several blades.

The boy was brought to OGH late Thursday night, around two in the morning. After an X-ray at the hospital, numerous pieces of the blades were found in his abdominal cavity, after which he was sent to the department of medical gastroenterology.

A team of doctors, led by Professor and Head of the Department of Medical Gastroenterology Dr. B. Ramesh Kumar, successfully extracted three sharp fragments of the blades using endoscopy.

According to the medics, this operation was extremely difficult because there was a risk of injuring internal organs with sharp objects, which could lead to cuts or perforations. Dr. Ramesh Kumar noted: 'This procedure was complicated because there is always a possibility of internal damage in the form of cuts and perforations.'

According to OGH administration, the boy had a previous history of mental health problems. His recovery after the intervention proceeded without complications, and his condition is currently stable. Senior medical staff reported that the OGH medical gastroenterology team has experience in removing various foreign bodies from the body via endoscopy.
