Annual 10 km race will take place on the streets of Hayelitschi on Sunday

The annual 10-kilometer race will take place this Sunday, September 6th, starting from Mandela Park Stadium. Participants will run through the streets of Hayelitschi, using Mandela Park and surrounding areas as the venue.

On Sunday morning, this event will gather runners for a morning jog in the settlement. Although the event has a competitive element, such club races also help strengthen camaraderie among people from different social strata united by a shared love of running.

For many participants, it is an opportunity to enjoy their sport in a different setting, meet new people, and become part of the atmosphere that arises from running through the streets of Hayelitschi.

Lubabalo Badi, chairman of the Hayelitschi Athletic Club, believes that this public event has the potential to become a major sporting event in the area and also provide people with an opportunity to see the positive side of Hayelitschi.

He noted: 'It is a chance for runners to see another side of Hayelitschi, the one that never makes newspaper headlines, and to feel the spirit of community. This is a public event. After the race, there will be many entertainments and prizes for participants.'

The race is expected to attract runners from various city clubs, and the streets of Mandela Park will once again be lively with runners from early morning. The 10 km race will start at 7:00 AM, and the 5 km race at 7:30 AM at Mandela Park Stadium. Late registrations are accepted on the day of the event.
