OpenAI Unveils GPT-6 Astra, Claiming It Is the Most Powerful AI Capable of AGI

OpenAI, the developer of ChatGPT, has announced the release of its most powerful artificial intelligence model—GPT-6 Astra. The company states that this model is their most advanced AI to date, and there is a possibility of the beginning of the Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) era.

OpenAI CEO Sam Altman shared this information in a post on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter). Altman called GPT-6 the best model for use on computers, emphasizing its suitability for professional tasks such as scientific research, coding, and cybersecurity. He also believes the model can be applied in entrepreneurship, scientific discoveries, and construction.

During a press briefing, OpenAI President Greg Brockman noted that it is not an error to admit that we have entered the AGI era. Brockman expressed confidence that the launch of Astra will be regarded as a major event in the world of AI in the future.

Advantages of GPT-6 Astra

Regarding the features of GPT-6 Astra, it is capable of performing many tasks significantly better. For example, it handles coding tasks easily. In its blog, OpenAI named GPT-6 Astra the best model in software engineering at the moment.

The model also possesses the ability to detect errors (bugs) and complete terminal-related tasks, as well as answer questions about the codebase. In terms of response accuracy, Astra surpassed OpenAI's GPT-5.6 Sol and Anthropic's Fable models.

Astra's Capabilities in Cybersecurity

Astra demonstrates superiority over other platforms in detecting vulnerabilities and bugs in cybersecurity. After the release of Anthropic's Claude Mythos and OpenAI's GPT-5.6 Sol models, there were AI models that found security flaws better. OpenAI reported that in cybersecurity tests conducted without production safeguards, Astra scored 100% on the ExploitBench platform, whereas GPT-5.6 Sol achieved a result of 78.5 percent.
