Kuwait includes description of Iranian attacks in 10th-grade history textbook, emphasizing national unity

The Kuwait Ministry of Education has documented attacks targeting the country this year in the 10th-grade history textbook. The Ministry of Education characterizes these events as 'sinful Iranian attacks' against Kuwait and has included descriptions of these assaults and their consequences in the national history curriculum, according to a report by the Kuwaiti newspaper Al Qabas.

The textbook, titled 'State of Kuwait: Journey and Essence,' dedicates pages 56 and 57 to documenting these attacks, their impact, and Kuwait's response, including what is described as the nation's unified efforts to counter them. This section is presented as part of efforts to strengthen national unity, loyalty, and a sense of belonging among the younger generation.

The textbook details the attacks attributed to Iran and Iran-backed groups. These attacks were carried out using missiles and drones against vital and state infrastructure, as well as residential areas. Listed targets include power plants, desalination facilities, Kuwait International Airport, the State Social Security Institute building, the Ministries Complex, and several residential zones.

The textbook also features an image of damage at Kuwait International Airport following an Iranian bombardment. It describes these attacks as a violation of Kuwait's sovereignty and security, noting that they prompted government institutions to raise their readiness levels. Furthermore, the textbook emphasizes Kuwait's rejection of these attacks and its right to defend its territory, while continuing diplomatic efforts to ensure regional stability and security.

The material highlights the leadership of the Emir of Kuwait, Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, who directed state structures, enhanced their preparedness, and affirmed Kuwait's position that the country was not involved in the conflict. The section also focuses on Kuwait's resilience and unity in response to the attacks.

The textbook also details the Emir's contacts with friendly and brotherly countries, as well as with international organizations during the crisis. These steps were aimed at affirming Kuwait's stance on respecting state sovereignty, adhering to international law, and maintaining regional stability. The textbook indicates that Kuwait continued its diplomatic work, insisting that it would not allow its territory, airspace, or territorial waters to be used as a launchpad for attacks against any country.

Moreover, it reiterates Kuwait's position that it is not a party to the conflict and calls for dialogue, de-escalation, and respect for international law. The textbook concludes that the crisis underscored the importance of national unity and solidarity between the leadership and the people of Kuwait, as well as the readiness of state institutions to protect the country's security and sovereignty.
