Nissan reduces prices of the Kait 2027 by up to R$ 10 thousand and simplifies version lineup

Renault has expanded the offering of the Boreal in the Move Brasil – Taxi and Applications program, making it available in four different versions. This expansion occurred after the federal government increased the vehicle financing limit from R$ 150 thousand to R$ 200 thousand.

The mid-sized SUV, which was previously only available in the entry configuration and restricted to taxi drivers, now also caters to digital platform drivers. For taxi drivers, the Techno version was included, costing R$ 147,674, and the Iconic version, priced at R$ 158,480. The Evolution version, which was already part of the initiative, remains available for R$ 131,825.

For application drivers, Renault presents the Evolution for R$ 167,990 and the Techno for R$ 189,990. Other models from the brand, such as Kwid, Kardian, and Duster, are also on the list of eligible vehicles.

There is a price disparity between the two groups: the Boreal Evolution is R$ 36,165 more affordable for the taxi driver. This difference is justified by the distinct benefits granted to each profile.

The taxi driver benefits from the exemption of IPI and ICMS upon purchasing a new vehicle, which reduces the invoice value. In contrast, the application driver does not have access to such exemptions and relies solely on the subsidized interest rate of the program, which is 0.99% per month for men and 0.91% per month for women, lower than the market rate.

Entry requirements also differ. The taxi driver must possess an active license, a CNH with EAR observation, and have registered an IPI exemption request with the Federal Revenue in the last two years. Meanwhile, the application driver needs to prove they have been actively registered on the platform for at least 12 months and have completed at least 100 rides during this period.

The expansion was formalized through a joint ordinance from the Ministries of Development, Industry, Commerce and Services and Finance, published in an extra edition of the Official Gazette on August 19. In addition to the ceiling increase, the regulation now accepts more hybrid configurations, including combinations of electric motors with ethanol, gasoline, or flex fuel propulsion.

With this change, the government projects that the price criterion will reach about 88% of the Brazilian automotive market, compared to approximately 63% previously. This allowed for the inclusion of SUVs, pickup trucks, and electrified vehicles in the program. The list of eligible models and versions now exceeds 170 combinations.

Renault is not the only participant in this movement. BYD had its King, Song Pro, Song Pro Flex, and Atto 2 models approved; GM requested the inclusion of the Captiva EV, valued at R$ 199,990; and Honda sought the Advance and Touring versions of the HR-V. Move Brasil provides up to R$ 30 billion in credit, although the government itself acknowledges that participation fell short of expectations and is studying ways to attract more private banks.

To participate, the driver must access the program's platform using a gov.br account and authorize eligibility analysis, which has a validation period of up to five business days. After approval, the interested party must approach one of the accredited financial institutions to conduct the credit analysis and finalize the contract.

New vehicle sales continue to rise in 2026, registering the registration of 212,876 units during August. This number represents an increase of 22.6% compared to the same period in 2025.

The vehicle that achieved the highest sales volume in Brazil in August was the Volkswagen Polo, with 10,472 units registered. It maintained a small advantage of only 133 units over the second-place model, which is its sibling, and the Fiat Argo occupied the third position in the ranking.

The order of the best-selling cars in August showed changes compared to the usual pattern, as the BYD Dolphin Mini surpassed the Chevrolet Onix in fourth place, selling more than 8 thousand units. The Dolphin model, considered the larger sibling, reached the eighth position in the ranking.

Other notable brands in the top 10 include the BYD Song; it is important to note that Fenabrave sums up the Pro and Plus models, which are distinct. Furthermore, the GWM Haval H6 also featured among the best-sellers. The first vehicle to fall out of the top 10 was the Geely EX2, which occupied the 11th position.

Regarding established brands, the Yaris Cross assumed the sales leadership for Toyota. A recent launch, the Honda WR-V, registered 21st place in sales. The recently updated Caoa Chery Tiggo 5X positioned itself in 22nd, ahead of the Omoda 5. Finally, the Hyundai i20 shows a growth trend by surpassing the HB20, while the Chevrolet Sonic maintains a modest sales volume.

India and Belgium have signed agreements aimed at strengthening defense cooperation and clean energy collaboration, and they also agreed to double bilateral trade within five years. These arrangements were reached during meetings between Indian Prime Minister Modi and his Belgian counterpart Bart De Wever, who became the first Belgian Prime Minister to visit India in nearly two decades, according to Sachin Parashar.

Following the talks, Modi presented India's growth of 7.8% in the last quarter as an opportunity for the entire world. In a joint statement with De Wever, Modi noted that global conflicts are causing serious disruptions, disrupting food, fuel, and raw material supply chains, and creating uncertainty across various sectors.

Modi stated: 'Today, the story of India's growth is becoming a source of confidence and new opportunities for the whole world.' Prime Minister Narendra Modi also announced a mechanism to accelerate investment between the two nations.

Belgium has contributed to attracting $4.2 billion in Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) into India from April 2000 to December 2025, making it the eighteenth largest source of FDI in India. De Wever's visit led to 10 key outcomes: five Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs), including two focused on developing domestic defense production, co-design, and joint development, as well as five other announcements, including the appointment of a military attaché at the Indian embassy in Brussels.

Regarding the potential extradition of fugitive Mehul Choksi, currently imprisoned in Belgium, Foreign Ministry Secretary Sibi George noted that law enforcement cooperation was a 'significant topic of discussion and an important aspect of relations with Belgium.' He added that 'all issues of concern and interest are discussed at all levels of our interaction... India remains committed to ensuring the return of fugitives to the country to serve their sentences.'

Modi emphasized that relations with Belgium have expanded beyond traditional sectors. The Prime Minister stated: 'Defense and security cooperation is a key pillar of our relationship. Today, we agreed to enhance military exchange and training cooperation between the two countries.' He continued that agreements between governments and defense industries will open up opportunities for joint development and production in the defense sector. Furthermore, intelligence sharing and agency cooperation to combat crime will be strengthened.

The Prime Minister noted that unprecedented cooperation, including the recently concluded Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between India and the EU—the two largest democratic blocs in the world—will serve as an impetus for global stability, development, and common prosperity.

The leaders also discussed Ukraine and West Asia, stressing their support for the rule of law, dialogue, and diplomacy. In a joint statement, they highlighted the importance of ensuring the security of sea lanes and maintaining safe and unimpeded maritime navigation.

Modi added: 'Whether it is Ukraine or West Asia, we support all efforts aimed at the swift cessation of conflicts and the restoration of peace.'

The leaders called for closer partnership in semiconductor technologies to create resilient and advanced technological ecosystems in both countries, noting that Belgium's expertise in this area complements India's scale.

Both leaders agreed to conclude an agreement on migration and mobility soon to facilitate talent movement. Belgium also expressed solidarity with India in the fight against terrorism. De Wever condemned the attack on civilians in Pahalgam in April 2025. The statement said that both leaders stressed their commitment to a comprehensive/global approach to combating terrorism and affirmed that terrorism in any form, manifestation, and anywhere can never be justified, calling for its perpetrators to be held accountable under the law.

Furthermore, the leaders focused on clean energy, critical minerals, and resilient supply chains. The Prime Minister stated: 'The MoU on renewable energy signed today will give momentum to our sustainable development cooperation. Regarding critical minerals, we decided to strengthen ties in processing and recycling.'
