Huawei unveiled its latest product collection on Wednesday, September 2nd, highlighting the new smartwatches: Watch 6, Watch 6 Pro, Watch GT 7, and Watch GT 7 Pro. International launch prices range from 279 pounds for the GT 7 (equivalent to R$ 1,928 in direct conversion) to 599 pounds for the 6 Pro (R$ 4,140).
The company has an event scheduled in São Paulo for September 24th, at which time more details are expected regarding the introduction of these devices to the Brazilian market and their respective prices.
The Huawei Watch 6 is considered the most sophisticated model presented by the Chinese manufacturer. Its Pro version maintains the same technical characteristics but elevates the finishing level, using ceramic and titanium instead of the aluminum and stainless steel found in the standard model. The Watch 6 is available in 42mm and 46mm sizes, while the Pro offers 43mm and 46mm options.
Both watches operate on Huawei's proprietary operating system, allowing connection with both Android and iOS smartphones. They are equipped with a rotating crown and a side button. A future feature, accessible via a software update, will allow navigation through the system using wrist movements. In terms of durability, they offer 5 ATM water resistance and IP69 certification against dust and water.
The smaller models feature a 1.38-inch AMOLED LTPO 2.0 screen with a resolution of 466 x 466 pixels, resulting in 338 pixels per inch (PPI). On the larger models, the resolution remains the same, but the screen size is 1.5 inches, reaching 310 PPI. Battery life varies: the smaller models last seven days, according to the brand, and the larger ones can reach up to 11 days using power-saving mode.
The Watch 6 line incorporates several sensors, including an accelerometer, gyroscope, compass, optical heart rate monitor (with electrocardiogram capability), barometer, and sensors to measure ambient light, body temperature, and depth. A notable feature is the X-Tap sensor, located on the side button, which allows for various health measurements by scanning the finger, a process that takes 60 seconds. Furthermore, Huawei has developed Health Glance, capable of analyzing 14 indicators to identify potential health issues, such as risk of hypertension, diabetes, and coronary diseases, although such functionalities depend on regulatory approval in different countries.
Other specifications include NFC connectivity, Bluetooth 5.2, GPS, and WLAN, in addition to integrated microphone and speaker for phone calls.
The Huawei GT smartwatch line is designed with a greater focus on sports activities and extended battery life. The Watch GT 7 is available in 41mm and 46mm versions, both with a stainless steel case. The Watch GT 7 Pro is offered exclusively in the 46mm version, featuring a titanium case.
Similar to the Watch 6, these models have a side button, rotating crown, and support for gesture navigation after a future update. They also guarantee 5 ATM water resistance and IP69 protection against water and dust. The 41mm model features a 1.32-inch AMOLED screen with a resolution of 466 x 466 pixels (352 PPI), while the 46mm model presents a 1.47-inch display, maintaining the same resolution and density of 317 PPI.
Regarding sensors, both the standard and Pro models feature an accelerometer, gyroscope, magnetometer, heart rate monitor, barometer, ambient light sensor, and body temperature monitor. The Pro model includes extra features such as electrocardiogram and depth sensor. In terms of connectivity, they support NFC, Bluetooth 6.0, GPS, and WLAN, and also have a speaker and microphone for calls. Huawei states that, in power-saving mode, the 41mm smartwatches run for seven days, and the 46mm models can last up to 12 days without needing a recharge.
