The Embassy of Japan in Uzbekistan handed over advanced medical equipment valued at approximately 111,720 US dollars to the regional branch of the Republican Scientific Center for Emergency Medical Care in Bukhara on September 3, 2026.
Equipment Handover Ceremony
This charitable donation was made as part of Japan's 'Grant Aid for Local Security Projects' (GGP) program. The official handover ceremony was attended by the Japanese Ambassador to Uzbekistan, Accredited Representative Kenji Hirata, Deputy Minister of Health of Uzbekistan Sherzod Mukhamedov, Head of the Bukhara Regional Department of Health Mukshin Rajabov, and Branch Director Shukhrat Khaydarov.
Under this project, the medical institution received specialized sets of endoscopic and arthroscopic gynecological equipment. The new equipment will allow for more accurate diagnosis and surgical interventions at the regional center.
Human Security Concept
The Japanese Embassy emphasized that this initiative aligns with Japan's 'Human Security' concept, which aims to develop sustainable social infrastructure. The grant program, operational in Uzbekistan since 1995, has funded 428 social projects in the fields of healthcare, education, and agriculture, including 114 healthcare projects nationwide and 11 projects in the Bukhara region. The Government of Japan reaffirmed its commitment to supporting improved access to medical services in Uzbekistan.
