Liverpool coach Andoni Iraola expressed satisfaction with the acquisition of Bradley Barcola and hinted at the possibility of the Frenchman making his Premier League debut in the upcoming game against Ipswich Town on Friday.
Barcola moved to Liverpool from Paris Saint-Germain in a high-profile deal reportedly worth $166 million, signing a five-year contract with the Premier League club. The 23-year-old forward was given the number 29 and arrived at Anfield with high expectations following such a major transfer.
Previously at PSG, Barcola's minutes were limited as the club favored Désiré Doué and Hwang Hee-chan. Despite being a two-time Champions League winner with PSG, he often had to come on as a substitute in final matches.
Iraola was impressed by what he saw in Barcola during training and suggested that the forward could participate in the match against the recently promoted Ipswich, provided he passes Thursday's training session without any issues.
During a press conference on Thursday, Iraola stated: 'We are very happy with Bradley; it was a priority for us to sign a very, very good player in these positions. He also came with the right mentality. I like that he really wanted to come to Liverpool. He wanted to come here.'
