Study shows link between violence against women and increased risk of child mortality

According to a systematic review and meta-analysis conducted by Australian researchers, it has been established that partner violence against women significantly increases the probability of their children dying at an early age.

The analysis, which covered over 684 thousand participants, demonstrated that the risk of death for children under five years old increases by 10 percent. Furthermore, an increased likelihood of infant mortality—by 32 percent—and neonatal mortality—by 36 percent—was identified.

The study results, published in JAMA Network Open, indicate that the impact of violence on children varies depending on the specific type and timeframe of the violent act.
