Uzbekistan's exports to Hong Kong reached approximately $716 million for the period from January to July 2026. This figure demonstrates a 22-fold increase compared to the same period last year, when the volume was $32.5 million. Data on this increase was obtained by the National Committee of Statistics and analyzed by the publication 'Gazeta.'
The sharp increase in supplies to Hong Kong began in the spring. In April, exports reached $110.3 million, significantly exceeding $6.1 million in April of last year, which is 18 times more. In May, the volume grew to $147.7 million, which is approximately 27 times higher than the May 2025 figure. In June, a new monthly maximum was recorded—$157.9 million, more than 23 times higher than the previous year's level.
The growth continued in July, when exports to Hong Kong amounted to approximately $172.9 million, which is three times more than the $5.7 million in July 2025, setting a new monthly record since the beginning of the current year. Thanks to this, Hong Kong ranked sixth among Uzbekistan's main export markets, overtaking Turkey and Kyrgyzstan, accounting for about 3.6% of the country's total exports over seven months.
For January-July, supplies to Hong Kong increased by $683.5 million in absolute terms, which is one of the most significant increases among all of Uzbekistan's partner countries. For comparison, exports to China grew by approximately $405 million during the same period (an increase of +31.4%) and reached $1.7 billion. Exports to Afghanistan increased by $369 million (+51.1%), reaching $1.1 billion, and to Russia by $355 million (+14.4%), totaling $2.8 billion.
Nevertheless, Uzbekistan's total exports for seven months amounted to about $19.9 billion, which was 3.6% lower than the previous year's level. However, July proved to be a strong month, demonstrating an export growth of approximately 24% compared to last year, reaching $4.1 billion.
The significant rise in supplies correlated with an increase in the export of jewelry from Uzbekistan and the activation of interaction with Hong Kong in the field of gold trade. According to data from the Ministry of Investment, Industry, and Trade, exports of jewelry from Uzbekistan reached $685 million from January to June, which is 2.8 times more than in the same period last year.
Information on supplies of jewelry and articles of precious metals under HS code 7113190000 was available in the commercial database Market Inside. Key suppliers included Luxury Diamond, Goldwish (Vosiq Doda), Fatih Jewellery, Global Universal Servis, Vostok Jewellery, SM Newgroup, and East Jewellery. The three largest companies—Luxury Diamond, Goldwish, and Fatih Jewellery—accounted for about 66% of the total supply volume reflected in Market Inside.
This growth occurs against the backdrop of strengthening economic ties between Uzbekistan and Hong Kong. In June, John Lee Ka-chiu, the head of the administration of the Special Administrative Region of Hong Kong, visited Tashkent with a business delegation and proposed expanding cooperation in the field of gold trade. According to him, Hong Kong is forming an international gold trading center with infrastructure for storage, clearing, and delivery of physical metal, while Uzbekistan has large production volumes and gold reserves.
