The British brand Dyson has formalized its entry into the oral health sector with the launch of a new electric toothbrush that incorporates artificial intelligence. This device also includes an oral irrigator operated by a sophisticated computer vision system, which automates interdental hygiene in real time.
The product was presented during an event held in Paris and represents an expansion of the company's product range, which traditionally focuses on home appliances. James Dyson, founder and chief engineer, stated that this innovation is the result of six years dedicated to research, development, and engineering, aiming to solve the difficulties encountered when using dental floss in hard-to-reach areas of the oral cavity.
The main differentiator of this new electric toothbrush lies in its accessory head, which contains a camera with a 100-megapixel macro lens. This camera is capable of recording and analyzing up to 28 images per second. When the software detects any space or gap between teeth, the system fires a precise jet of water or mouthwash directly at that specific point in just 100 milliseconds, allowing for interdental cleaning simultaneously with brushing.
To ensure maximum accuracy, the Dyson CameraJet employs an AI system trained using a vast database composed of 470 thousand dental images. In addition to fluid application, the device operates with variable sonic oscillation, a feature that allows the bristles to penetrate the interstices and promote deeper hygiene than offered by conventional brushes.
Additionally, the new toothbrush offers high-definition endoscope functionality. Users can access this live viewing feature through integration with the MyDyson app, transmitting the images directly to their mobile phone. The device also supports 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connections.
In the international market, the Dyson CameraJet will be available in two distinct colors—ceramic pink and ultra ceramic blue—and is already available for pre-order online. The suggested price is US$ 499.99, which is equivalent to approximately R$ 2,750 in direct conversion, excluding taxes.
The device obtained approval from Anatel at the end of July, confirming that it meets technical requirements and already has legal permission to be marketed in Brazil. However, despite this bureaucratic release, the brand has not yet announced the exact arrival date in Brazilian stores nor established an official price for the country.
