Actor Amin Haji expressed disappointment in the film 'Lagaan', saying it ruined his career

Actor Amin Haji, who played the role of Baghi in the film 'Lagaan' with Aamir Khan and Ashutosh Gowariker, shared his disappointment with this movie. The film 'Lagaan', released in 2001, became an iconic work of Indian cinema, achieving success both at the box office and internationally.

However, the actor's recent statement about the film shocked many. In one interview, Amin Haji stated that 'Lagaan' ruined his career. Nevertheless, he clarified that his criticism was not directed against the film itself.

According to Amin, after his character and the plot of the film were written in a certain way, subsequent roles offered to him began to seem weak. In an interview with Sidharth Kanana, Amin revealed that after 'Lagaan', he was repeatedly rejected when looking for work.

He recalled Ashutosh Gowariker's words that a film like 'Lagaan' happens once in 800 years, calling it his destiny and karma. Amin added that he refused everything he received afterward because he could not compare it to what 'Lagaan' gave him. He compared the experience gained to a gift from God to the Taj Mahal and called Aamir Khan a friend given to him by 'Lagaan.'

Amin Haji admitted that he went through difficult times despite his culture requiring him to earn money. He stated: 'I am nothing. My wife is good, brother. I survived.' He also mentioned that he made a mistake by refusing Vikram Bhatt's offer, and now they are even without money.

Despite this, Amin Haji considers himself a happy person because he has Charlotte Whitby-Cools as his life partner.
