The 'A Dubai Invite' program closed after receiving over 90 thousand applications

The Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism (DET) announced on Thursday the conclusion of registrations for the 'A Dubai Invite' program after it received over 90,000 applications from residents.

Under this initiative, launched on July 20, more than 30,000 benefit packages have already been distributed. The program aimed to encourage residents to invite friends and relatives from abroad to visit Dubai.

DET reported that high demand forced the program's capacity to be increased more than threefold with the support of participating partners. Despite the closure of new registrations, benefits will continue to be issued to residents who successfully registered visitors before reaching the final limit.

Invited visitors can arrive in Dubai until October 31, 2026. They must enter Dubai directly from outside the UAE and meet the program's criteria. The verification process of their arrival is carried out through a unified system supported by the General Directorate of Identity and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA).

Successful applicants will receive their benefit packages within 72 hours of the guests' arrival. These benefits will remain valid at participating locations until December 31, 2026.

Noor Al Ghuzairi, Vice President for Special Projects and MENA at DET, noted that the reaction to the program demonstrated the significant role residents play in promoting Dubai among friends and relatives abroad. She emphasized that 'the exceptional success of 'A Dubai Invite' shows how much our residents want to share Dubai with their friends and family.'

Al Ghuzairi added that residents are among the most active advocates for Dubai, as their personal experiences and recommendations give visitors an authentic insight into the city. Dubai is home to people from nearly 200 nationalities, which provides the emirate with a substantial segment of tourism based on friends and relatives visits.

DET also indicated that this initiative reflects the spirit of UAE Family Year by encouraging residents to host loved ones in the city. The program offered various bonuses in the fields of hotels, attractions, dining, transport, and lifestyle experiences.

Partners included hotels such as W Dubai Mina Seyahi, The Westin Dubai Mina Seyahi Beach Resort and Marina, as well as venues from IHG Hotels and Resorts. Benefits were also provided at attractions like Aquaventure Waterpark and IMG Worlds of Adventure. Careem offered a free Careem Plus subscription and discounts on transport in Hala Taxi and other services.

The Department noted that the initiative was developed after nearly a year of collaboration with public and private partners and became part of DET's broader strategy aimed at the friends and relatives tourism segment. The Department stated its intention to continue working with tourism partners and the community of Dubai residents to encourage visitors to discover the city through the experiences and recommendations of local residents.

Dubai plans to open 26 new private educational institutions in 2026–2027, providing nearly 17,000 places

During the 2026–2027 academic year, Dubai intends to open 26 new private educational institutions. Among these are seven schools that will provide nearly 17,000 additional places for learning, aligning with the ongoing expansion of educational opportunities for families in the emirate.

The new openings also include 17 Early Childhood Centres (ECCs), which will add over 1,700 places for preschool education, as well as two international higher education institutions.

This growth comes as Dubai's private education sector has shown an annual increase of 4.6 percent over the last three academic years, covering early childhood education, schools, and higher education. This progress is observed despite exceptional circumstances in the 2025–26 academic year, thanks to continuous investment from education providers and the emergence of internationally recognized institutions.

For parents seeking school placements, the seven new private schools will offer diverse curricula: four will follow the British curriculum, and three will follow the International Baccalaureate (IB). Among these new schools are campuses in Dubai of renowned British institutions such as Harrow International School Dubai, Queen Elizabeth’s School Dubai Sports City, and Rugby School Dubai.

Over the past three years, Dubai's private school sector has added 21 new schools, and student enrollment has increased by 3.1 percent.

KHDA Director General Aisha Miran noted that the continued expansion reflects the trust placed in Dubai by families and education service providers. She emphasized that the steady growth of Dubai's private education sector demonstrates the belief of students, families, educators, and investors in Dubai as a place for high-quality education. According to her, every new early childhood centre, school, and higher education institution expands opportunities for students at every stage of their educational journey and contributes to the overall goal of building one of the world's best education systems.

The early learning sector is also rapidly developing: 17 new ECCs offer programs including UK’s Early Years Foundation Stage, Montessori, Ontario, French, and Indian programs. This growth complements the 87 new ECCs opened in Dubai over the last three years, alongside a 2.6 percent increase in student enrollment.

The overall expansion is also stimulating demand for teachers. Over the last three academic years, the number of workers in Dubai's private education sector has increased by 17.5 percent, strengthening the emirate's appeal for education specialists.

Dubai's expansion also affects higher education: two globally recognized institutions are set to strengthen the university choices for students in the emirate. Peking University HSBC Business School will launch its MBA and EMBA programs in January 2027, and the campus of the American University of Beirut in Dubai is planned to open in September 2026.

Peking University HSBC Business School ranks 47th in the global QS ranking, and the arrival of these two institutions supplements the higher education sector, which has seen the opening of 11 new institutions and a 29 percent increase in student enrollment over the last three years.

M Miran added that this growth is driven by the broader goal of creating an education system that provides students with more opportunities while supporting Dubai's wider economic objectives. Within the Education 33 Strategy, an educational ecosystem is being created that offers greater choice, develops talent, attracts world-class institutions, and equips students with the knowledge, skills, and values necessary for future success, in line with Dubai's Economic Agenda, D33, and the emirate's socio-economic priorities.

Dubai Airport Welcomes Arriving Guests with Historic Doors from Al-Shindagha, Al Fahidi, and Deira Districts

Arriving passengers at Dubai International Airport are now greeted by recreated historic doors inspired by some of Dubai's oldest districts.

The doors, sourced from the Al Shindagha, Al Fahidi, and Deira districts, have been reproduced throughout the airport arrival route as part of a new cultural heritage program. This initiative introduces visitors to Dubai's past before they enter the modern urban landscape.

The 'Dubai Historic Doors' program launched on August 20 and will run until September 7. Its implementation is carried out by the Dubai Municipality in collaboration with Dubai Airports and the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA).

One of the central exhibits is a reconstruction of the historic door of Sheikh Saeed House, which is located in the arrivals area of Terminal 3. This experience begins the moment travelers arrive and continues until the passport control area, turning part of the arrival journey into a display of Dubai's architectural history and culture.

Traditional doors previously played an important role in the houses, markets, and neighborhoods of old Dubai. The new exhibits draw inspiration from historical locations such as Al Shindagha, Al Fahidi, and Deira, which continue to preserve some of the emirate's most famous buildings and streets.

The main goal of this concept is to give travelers an early glimpse into Dubai's history and traditions while they pass through one of the city's busiest entry points. The Dubai Municipality also noted that this initiative reflects the traditional Emirati concept of hospitality, where doors served not only as architectural elements but also as symbols of warmth.

Marwan Ahmed Bin Ghaleet, CEO of the Dubai Municipality, emphasized that Dubai's historic architecture remains an integral part of the emirate's identity. He stated: 'In the Emirati heritage, doors are more than just architectural elements. They are enduring symbols of hospitality and warmth.' He added that placing these doors in Dubai International Airport allows the city to showcase its heritage in a modern public space while welcoming people from all over the world.

Officials noted that the airport was chosen because it is one of the first points of contact for millions of visitors upon their arrival in Dubai. Major General Mohammed Ahmed Al Marri, CEO of GDRFA-Dubai, believes that the visitor's first impression of Dubai is formed from the moment of arrival. He noted that entry points like airports can offer more than just quick procedures and services, helping visitors understand the city's identity, history, and culture.

Majed Al Joker, COO of Dubai Airports, reported that this initiative provides travelers with an additional way to discover Dubai while moving through the airport. He stressed: 'DXB is not just a major transport hub, but a gateway to the city, offering arriving passengers their first introduction to Dubai.' Furthermore, the program aims to encourage guests to explore Dubai's historic districts and cultural attractions during their stay.
