The show 'An Ode to Motown' returns to Joburg Theatre featuring iComplete

The show 'An Ode To Motown' will once again be presented on the Mandela Stage at Joburg Theatre from September 4 to 13, 2026. Following a completely sold-out season, audiences from Joburg have expressed a desire to see the production again.

This updated, energetic season includes new elements in the repertoire and features the outstanding male vocal group iComplete, which draws attention with its recognizable harmonies and modern South African style.

The production is directed by James Ngcobo, choreographed by Lulu Mlangeni, and musically guided by Margaret Motsage. It features a strong South African cast, including Lisle Pennikin, Lerato Mvelase, Tamara Dey, Khlengive Pearl, Anelle Precias Mtethwa, and iComplete, alongside a live band.

Despite retaining beloved original numbers, the updated program offers fresh vocal duets and captivating moments. iComplete takes center stage, performing moving versions of Debarge's 'All This Love' and The Commodores' 'Sail On'. Anelle Precias Mtethwa and Khlengive Pearl present a spectacular performance with the song 'Crush'. Tamara Dey performs Stevie Wonder's classic track 'Knocks Me Off My Feet' in a soulful manner.

In honor of the expanded role of the iComplete group, Joburg Theatre commissioned an exclusive photoshoot, which was conducted by renowned designer Paledi Pulse. This collaboration reinterprets the image of the classic Motown gentleman through the lens of contemporary, fashionable style, combining bold tailoring, rich colors, and vintage chic.

Tickets for the show are R450 per person. Purchases are available through Webtickets, the Joburg Theatre box office, and online at www.joburgtheatre.com.
