VLCC Company Attracts ₹110 Crore in Funding from BlackSoil Capital

The local beauty and wellness company VLCC has successfully attracted ₹110 crore in funding from BlackSoil Capital. These funds are intended to support the next stage of the company's development across its beauty, wellness, and personal hygiene product lines.

According to an official statement, VLCC, which is backed by the global private equity firm Carlyle, plans to use the received investments to meet current business needs and realize growth opportunities. This includes strengthening the operational platform as well as supporting the expansion of the company and its subsidiaries.

VLCC was founded by Vandana Luthra in 1989 and has evolved into a comprehensive beauty and wellness platform. Today, it has outlets in over 250 locations spanning more than 130 cities. The company's operations cover beauty and wellness services, professional training, and personal hygiene products, operating in the markets of India, South Asia, the Middle East, and Africa.

Dipak Taluja, CEO of VLCC, commented on the event, noting that this financing will enable the realization of growth plans across all business verticals, including the launch of new products and the expansion of the store network. He emphasized that amid the growing demand for organized services and products in the beauty and wellness sector, the company is focused on enhancing customer experience, increasing reach, and building a stronger, future-ready platform.

VLCC operates in 11 countries, including India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Nepal, Singapore, UAE, Oman, Qatar, and Kuwait. The company's portfolio includes the VLCC personal hygiene brand and the men's brand Ustraa, as well as the VLCC Beauty and Nutrition Institute.

In 2022, Carlyle acquired a controlling stake in VLCC, followed by additional investment from Alpha Wave Ventures in 2025.

Ankur Bansal, Managing Director of BlackSoil, stated that the company has built a solid operational base and is well-positioned to capitalize on significant growth opportunities in India's expanding beauty and wellness industry.

Established in 2016, BlackSoil is an alternative lending platform with Assets Under Management (AUM) of $275 million. This platform provides alternative lending solutions to fast-growing and underserved new economy enterprises to cover short-term and long-term capital needs. BlackSoil's portfolio includes eleven unicorn companies and fourteen publicly traded companies.
