Microsoft will expand automatic activation of Memory Integrity Protection in Windows 11 starting in October

Microsoft plans to expand the automatic activation of the Memory Integrity feature on Windows 11 devices starting in October. This security mechanism generates interest for two main reasons: its prior existence, which is not widely known, and the potential to cause side effects for certain users.

The Memory Integrity functionality (Integrity Protection) is already enabled on most modern computers. Its fundamental purpose is to prevent malicious code from running at the operating system kernel level. To achieve this, the mechanism uses a Virtualization-Based Security (VBS) process, creating an isolated environment in memory where drivers and code seeking kernel access are rigorously verified before being released.

This methodology is advantageous because it prevents malware that has compromised some component of Windows from accessing this secure space, thus preventing the execution of malicious code at the kernel level, which could worsen the problem.

Concerns regarding drivers stem from the fact that they need to operate directly at the kernel level. A vulnerable driver has the power to compromise multiple layers of system security.

Although Memory Integrity has existed for some time, having been introduced in Windows 10, it began to be implemented as standard in Windows 11 version 21H2, provided the hardware was compatible. Currently, computers come with this feature turned on by default.

However, through scheduled updates to be released starting in October 2026, Microsoft will make the feature automatically activate on PCs where it is disabled, which usually occurs on older machines.

It should be noted that this automatic activation, without user intervention, will only occur on computers that meet specific eligibility criteria, including the presence of defined hardware features and adequate performance evaluations.

The factor that makes Memory Integrity unsuitable for all PCs is that verification may fail when interacting with outdated drivers. Additionally, older processors may require the emulation of certain procedure steps, resulting in reduced machine performance.

Because of these limitations, many users, particularly gamers, choose to keep Memory Integrity disabled. If the feature is already active and there are no noticeable performance issues, it is recommended to keep it on. However, if difficulties arise, the user has the option to disable it to monitor the computer's behavior.

Disney+ stops working on Samsung TVs, generating user complaints

On Wednesday, September 2nd, several users used social media to report the inability to access Disney+ on Samsung brand televisions. When attempting to open the streaming platform, an error message appears indicating that the application is not compatible with the device.

Reports indicate that several models of Samsung TVs are affected by this failure, including the Samsung RU7100, Samsung QLED Q60, Samsung OLED S90C, and Samsung Q70T models.

Complaints were also registered on the Reclame Aqui platform. A consumer from Brumado (BA) reported the problem on two 65-inch Samsung Crystal UHD TVs purchased in 2026, stating: “For 20 minutes, the Disney+ application simply stopped working and shows a message saying that it is no longer possible to install the application because it is no longer compatible.”

The Tecnoblog team managed to replicate the situation on a Samsung RU7100 TV. The Disney+ application was working the day before but stopped operating the next day. After uninstalling and trying to reinstall the app, a warning appeared stating: “This application is not compatible with your TV.”

On its support page, Disney+ states that its streaming service is compatible with most Samsung smart TV models manufactured from 2016 onwards, which use the Tizen operating system. Currently, there are no recent public records of models being removed from the support list.

As of the time of publication, no reports of this issue have been found on televisions from other manufacturers or regarding competing streaming services.

Tecnoblog contacted Disney+ but has not received a response yet. However, the service's support profile on X informed dissatisfied users: “We have received similar reports about this behavior. We do not have a resolution forecast at the moment, but we are working to make it as fast as possible. Thank you for your understanding in the meantime!”

Samsung was also contacted by Tecnoblog. The company is aware of the issue but has not yet provided an official statement, and the text will be updated as soon as there is a reply.

How to share real-time location using Google Maps

The real-time location sharing feature in Google Maps allows previously authorized contacts to follow a user's journey live on the map. This functionality is accessed directly through the mobile application and enables the user to set a specific duration for their position display.

In addition to transmitting the current location, the tool provides estimated arrival times and reports the smartphone's battery level. It is possible to stop sending these coordinates at any time with a simple tap in the app.

To begin, you must open the Google Maps application on both Android and iPhone devices and tap the icon containing the profile picture, located in the upper right corner of the screen. In the main menu, the user must select the option labeled 'Share location' to proceed. If this is the first time using the tool, it is necessary to read the presented instructions and click 'Share location' again.

Next, in the section dedicated to 'Share your real-time location,' the transmission time can be set using the adjustment buttons or by selecting the 'Until you turn off' option. After that, you need to choose the people who will receive the data within Google Maps and confirm the sharing to activate real-time location monitoring.

To end the sharing after completing the route, the user must return to the Google Maps feature screen, select the desired contact, and confirm the action by selecting 'Stop sharing.'

Google Maps determines the current location by cross-referencing data from the phone's GPS, Wi-Fi, mobile networks, and Bluetooth signals. The application then sends this encoded information over the internet to the contacts authorized to track the movement on the map.

Receivers of the share can view the exact position, battery level, and select an active route to check the estimated arrival time. This technology is comparable to the Find My feature on iPhone, as it updates movements in real time directly on the map. Google Maps facilitates navigation and helps precisely indicate the user's location, allowing their contacts to follow the route with high accuracy.

Additionally, the service offers other important benefits. It is crucial to note that Google Maps will not automatically locate a lost or stolen smartphone unless it was already configured to share its real-time location. To locate the device, it is recommended to use Google's Find My Device on Android phones and employ locking options. If the device is an Apple product, accessing iCloud Find My allows finding the iPhone via a browser or another device of the same brand. In both situations, it is advisable to always refer to official pages to protect data against fraud and unauthorized access.

Real-time location transmission from Google Maps communicates the user's current position temporarily and live to authorized contacts, enabling them to track journeys, routes, and estimated arrival times. On the other hand, Google Maps Timeline functions as a private travel log, storing and recording the history of visited locations and traveled paths directly on the device.

The application sends real-time location directly into the navigation and traffic information system. During a trip, it displays route data, estimated time of arrival, and the phone's battery level to authorized contacts. When sharing is done via WhatsApp, the function operates in individual conversations or group chats, allowing for quick and precise sending of the real-time position to assist with meetings, although without providing extensive route or estimated time details.

Dolby focuses on games and immersive experiences to connect technology with the Brazilian consumer

Dolby, known for its audio and image technologies for decades, is expanding its presence in Latin America with a direct focus on the consumer. During the SET Expo 2026 event, the company showcased both gaming-related experiences and solutions used in creating content for cinema and streaming services.

This initiative represents a shift in the company's positioning, which traditionally operated in the B2B market. Paula Pimentel, Director of Marketing and Brand Communication for Dolby in Latin America, clarified that 2026 marks the beginning of a structured marketing strategy for the region, prioritizing the end consumer.

Pimentel commented that, due to its historical focus on B2B, Dolby lacked this type of investment and B2C vision. The company's goal is not to launch its own products to compete with manufacturers of cell phones, televisions, or headphones. Instead, the aim is to increase awareness of terms like Dolby Atmos and Dolby Vision, making these features considered by consumers when purchasing new devices.

One of the main vehicles for demonstrating this difference is video games. At the Dolby booth at SET Expo, the company set up a demonstration in collaboration with Microsoft, using Xbox, a cockpit, and headphones to illustrate the application of its technologies during a game of Forza. The selection of games helps translate complex technical concepts into more accessible experiences, such as the perception of three-dimensional sounds around the player, which simulates the feeling of being immersed in the environment.

The same logic applies to other forms of entertainment. According to Pimentel, Dolby technology can be found in various devices, including cell phones, TVs, soundbars, and headphones, in addition to movie theaters. For the executive, this presents a marketing challenge, as simply describing Dolby by technical specifications is not enough; the adopted strategy is to create scenarios where the public can experience the technologies.

She emphasized that Dolby is difficult to explain, stating: 'You don't explain, you don't describe, you have to feel.' Despite this new consumer-focused approach, Dolby's involvement begins long before a film, series, or game is shown. The company works with technologies from the content production phase to how it is reproduced on users' devices.

Also at SET Expo, there was a joint demonstration with Colorfront, which included an image conversion station, quality control, and video processing similar to those used by major film and streaming producers. Luciano Abreu, Colorfront's representative at NMF, reported that the company's software specializes in color space conversion, enabling work with SDR and HDR content, as well as processes involving Dolby Vision.

Abreu added that Colorfront's solutions are already ready to handle Dolby Vision 2.0 metadata, a technology that, according to him, was presented by the company during NAB this year. Dolby's strategy in Latin America aims precisely to unite these two ends: the producers, studios, and manufacturers who use its technologies, and the consumers who watch movies, follow series, or play video games on compatible equipment.

For Pimentel, the ultimate goal is for Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos to stop being mere names listed in device specifications and start influencing the consumer's purchasing decision. Dolby's participation in SET Expo reinforces this movement, with representatives participating in panels on visual effects, audiovisual productions, and technologies applied to television. In the gaming segment, the proposal is clear: instead of just detailing the operation of spatial audio through specifications, Dolby wants to place the player directly into the experience, providing a control so that the experience itself proves the difference.
