Seven-year-old Ragini Digheda from the village of Ranipur, located in the Manier area of Ballia district, is a first-grade student at the primary school. After an accident at six months old, one of her legs was seriously injured, causing her to walk to school by hopping on one leg for about 400 meters. After a video of this journey became popular on social media, district official Mangla Prasad Singh arrived at Ragini's home with staff on Wednesday.
He presented her with two tricycles, books, a bag of toys, and chocolate, and also promised to provide medical assistance and repair the road.
An Unbroken Spirit Despite Losing a Leg in an Accident
Ragini's mother, Babita Devi, recounted that when her daughter was six months old, she suffered a severe leg injury in an accident. Due to the family's modest financial situation, they could not afford quality treatment for her. The child would cry watching other children carry their school bags, and sometimes she would travel to school herself by hopping on one leg.
After the video went viral, District Director Mangla Prasad Singh sent a specialist in empowering persons with disabilities and a doctor on Tuesday. Then, on Wednesday, he personally visited Ragini's home with officials. He assured the family that Ragini's education would not be interrupted and that she would be provided with all state programs.
Instructions for Treatment, Toilet, and Road Repair
The district official ordered a medical examination for Ragini and ensured proper treatment for her leg. Furthermore, information was provided about the upcoming repair of the dilapidated road in the village and the approval of a budget for building a toilet in the house.
