Absa becomes the main sponsor for the return of the Delicious Festival in 2027

The Delicious food and music festival has announced a new main sponsor following the end of its long-term collaboration with DStv this year. The situation for the festival is improving thanks to this new partner.

Previously, in April, it was announced that Canal+, the new owners of MultiChoice, had terminated the partnership as part of a large-scale corporate restructuring. This decision marked a turning point for the event, which had been associated with the DStv brand for 12 years.

On Tuesday, September 1st, organizers published a statement according to which the financial institution Absa joined as the main sponsor. In a press release, Absa Group's Sydney Mbele, Director of Group Marketing and Corporate Affairs, stated: 'At Absa, we believe your story matters. Our partnership with Delicious aims to create meaningful opportunities for our clients and communities so they can experience the music, food, creativity, and culture that drives them.'

The Delicious Food and Music Festival is known for bringing international artists such as Janet Jackson, Erykah Badu, Jason Derulo, Bastille, and Jill Scott to Johannesburg's stage.

This announcement followed the organizers' notification that the 2026 edition of the festival would not take place but would be postponed to April 2027, shifting from its usual September date. Furthermore, the organizers of the Delicious Food and Music Festival announced that SABC had been granted broadcasting partner status.

Event Details

The Absa Delicious Festival event will be broadcast by SABC. It is scheduled for April 10–11, 2027, and will take place at the Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit in Johannesburg.

These changes have generated excitement among potential attendees, who are now awaiting the announcement of the full lineup.
