Woolworths recalls WBeauty shampoo due to bacterial detection

Woolworths has voluntarily and immediately recalled the WBeauty Complete Clarifying Shampoo in a 250 ml size.

The retail chain reported that the recall was part of its quality assurance processes. These processes identified an issue affecting a limited batch of the product, which necessitated further testing.

Further tests revealed the presence of the bacterium Pluralibacter gergoviae, which is occasionally found in humid production environments.

The WBeauty Complete Clarifying Shampoo was sold only in the 250 ml size, and this product has already been removed from store shelves.

Woolworths emphasized that the risk to healthy individuals is assessed as low. Nevertheless, customers with weakened immune systems are advised to stop using the product to prevent possible bacterial infection.

The retail chain stated: 'WBeauty Complete Clarifying Shampoo is sold only in the 250 ml size. The product has been removed from shelves, and customers who purchased this item should return it to the nearest Woolworths store for a full refund; proof of purchase is not required.'
