The Ahmedabad Division of the Western Railway of Indian Railways demonstrated outstanding results in August 2026, exceeding set targets for revenue from freight transport, parcels, and ticket checking. A significant increase in revenue compared to the same period last year was also noted.
Freight transport revenue reached 631.31 crore rupees. This amount surpassed the planned figure of 618.70 crore rupees by 2.04%. Compared to 594.82 crore rupees received during the same period last year, there was an impressive growth of 6.13%.
The parcel department also showed substantial growth, earning 7.17 crore rupees in the month. This exceeded the target of 6.58 crore rupees by 8.97%. Furthermore, parcel revenue increased by 13.99% compared to 6.29 crore rupees earned last year.
Thanks to the strict stance of inspection teams against ticketless travelers and railway rule violators, the division generated 2.48 crore rupees from ticket checking. This figure demonstrated record growth of 20.98% compared to 2.05 crore rupees received last year.
According to senior division officials, these high achievements were made possible through strategic management, accelerated parcel delivery, and leveraging new opportunities in freight transport. Intensive checking campaigns not only increased receipts but also made journeys more comfortable and safer for legitimate passengers.
The positive results of the changes implemented by the Ahmedabad Division in infrastructure and cargo management processes have begun to show. The division attributed this success to the collective efforts of all employees, the operational team, and the checking staff. The division's goal for the coming months remains maintaining this consistent growth and service quality.
