The weather in the southern parts of the United States has become unpredictable once again. Tropical Storm Eduard, which developed in the Gulf of Mexico, moved towards Texas and Louisiana, while Lowell and Karina in the Pacific Ocean have also raised concerns among meteorologists. Currently, there is a risk of heavy rainfall and flooding, and the storms are strengthening rapidly over the sea.
Eduard formed in the Gulf of Mexico on Monday and was expected to make landfall on the Texas coast. On Tuesday morning, the storm was located approximately 85 miles from Cameron, Louisiana, and about 115 miles from Port Arthur, Texas, with maximum winds recorded at around 64 kilometers per hour.
The meteorological department has predicted rainfall of 3 to 6 inches in the Greater Houston area, while some areas in the upper coastal regions may experience up to 9 inches of rain. The risk of flash floods in low-lying and urban areas has increased due to extremely heavy rainfall in a short period. Texas authorities have instructed citizens to remain vigilant, and relief and emergency teams have been kept ready. Dry bushes and plants have been removed from some areas due to the risk of fires caused by lightning.
Activity was also observed in the Pacific Ocean. Tropical Storm Lowell was about 690 miles southeast ofHilo, Hawaii, with wind speeds of approximately 112 kilometers per hour. According to meteorologists, it could rapidly strengthen into a major storm by Wednesday.
On the other hand, Hurricane Karina has already become a Category 4 storm, with wind speeds of approximately 209 kilometers per hour. However, it is still far from land, and no threat has currently been declared for any coastal area. Rain and thunderstorms were also observed in the Caribbean regions from the remnants of Tropical Storm Dolly in the Atlantic. Thus, the weather conditions around America are being continuously monitored in many places.
