US Secretary of Energy Chris Wright stated that 17 million barrels of oil passed through the Strait of Hormuz on Monday.
Wright added that this figure is the highest level of crude oil transit through this waterway since trade shipments were disrupted by the war with Iran.
However, Wright's statement contradicts preliminary vessel tracking data provided by Kpler. According to Kpler data, only five commercial vessels passed through the waterway that day, and no tankers carrying liquid cargo were registered.
It should be noted that Kpler data does not account for vessels with disabled transponders, as this reduces their visibility.
