DOSA STUDIO conceived Casa Tepoztlán, a residence located in Tepoztlán, a village characterized by its magical atmosphere, built with adobe and volcanic stone and protected by high hills. This place possesses a mystical identity intrinsically linked to its history and the surrounding natural environment, and the central concept of the house was designed to mirror this local identity.
The project harmonizes the landscape with materiality, employing traditional construction methods of the region. The building features a silhouette reminiscent of an hourglass, communicating with the surroundings through two interconnected volumes that frame external views. The space was planned to remain largely open, allowing for the capture of the site's energies.
The front entrance is marked by imposing stone walls facing an ancient Amate, which seems to invade the interior of the house. Upon opening the wooden slatted panels, the access plaza merges with the internal hall, creating a vast vestibule that eliminates divisions between the interior and exterior spaces.
In the heart of the residence, a circular opening was introduced between the slabs of the main hall. This opening establishes a connection with the sky through a reflecting pool, forming a meditation point that also serves as a device to reflect the passage of time.
A continuous flow of light permeates the interior and moves throughout the day. The adjacent garden, structured in different levels of vegetation, extends to the hills, dissolving the boundaries of the land and giving it a sense of infinity.
