The birth of Lord Krishna is celebrated in the month of Bhadrapada, during the dark moon period, on the Ashtami day. On this day, followers decorate Laddu Gopal and celebrate the Lord's birth at midnight. This year, many auspicious yogas are expected for Janmashtami.

According to the Hindu Panchang, Yoga Jayanti, Savarta Siddhi, Harshan, Hansa, Malvya, Budhaditya Rajyoga, and Navpancham Rajyoga will be formed this time. The timing for performing worship during these auspicious moments is presented below.

According to the Hindu Panchang, the Ashtami in the dark phase of Bhadrapada will begin on September 4, 2026, at 2:25 AM and end on September 5, 2026, at 00:13 AM. However, the determination of Krishna Janmashtami depends not only on the date of Ashtami; special importance is also given to midnight and the Rohini nakshatra. Based on this, Krishna Janmashtami will be celebrated on September 4, 2026, this year.

During the daytime on Janmashtami, the Abhijit Muhurta is considered auspicious, lasting from 11:55 AM to 12:45 PM. After this, the nighttime worship time falls under Nishita Kaal, which on this day will be from 11:57 PM to 12:43 AM.

Muhurta Choghadiya for September 4

Muhurta Labh: from 7:35 AM to 9:10 AM.

Muhurta Amrit: from 9:10 AM to 10:45 AM.

Auspicious Yoga: from 12:20 PM to 1:55 PM.

Nishita Kaal Worship Muhurta: from 11:57 PM to 12:43 AM.

On the night of Janmashtami, worship of Laddu Gopal should begin during Nishita Kaal. To do this, Panchamrit can be prepared by mixing pure water with milk, yogurt, honey, and Gangajal. After bathing the Lord, He should be dressed in new clothes and then adorned. A sandalwood tilak must be applied, and flowers placed. Incense and lamps should be lit in the temple to perform Aarti to Krishna. During the worship of the Lord, laddu mishri is offered. Additionally, other offerings can be made according to one's faith and capabilities. There is also a tradition of placing Tulsi leaves during worship and offering gifts.

Various types of prasad are offered to Laddu Gopal on Janmashtami. Among them are the main ones: laddu mishri, Panchamrit, kheer, yogurt, cucumber, banana, and pandjiri. Followers can prepare any of these items depending on their faith and capabilities. During the worship on Janmashtami, devotion and faith are given great importance along with the offering.
