Review of the Eufy S340 Wi-Fi Security Camera with Solar Panel

Wi-Fi security cameras are considered important equipment for reinforcing the protection of homes, businesses, or offices. Some models available on the market feature a solar panel, which allows monitoring of outdoor areas, such as garages, yards, or establishment entrances, at any time.

The Olhar Digital portal conducted an evaluation of the Eufy S340 model, manufactured by Anker, which is frequently found on sale in e-commerce. This text details the features of the Eufy S340 camera to help the reader decide if it meets their needs.

Detailed View

The Eufy S340 presents itself as a small rectangular box with rounded corners, constructed from durable white plastic to withstand external weather conditions, such as rain and sun. Its front face displays two overlapping lenses, along with a motion sensor and a small illumination light.

On top of the device, there is a discreet solar panel attached. Since it is completely wireless, the camera eliminates the need for proximity to electrical outlets and removes the necessity of hiding exposed cables. Furthermore, installation is simplified as it does not require drilling into the wall for electrical wiring.

Wall mounting is achieved through an articulated base, which allows adjustment of the initial orientation of the device. Due to the two internal motors responsible for lens rotation, the model is slightly larger and more robust than other cameras designed for outdoor use.

The primary power source is the solar panel, which powers the rechargeable internal battery, ensuring nighttime operation. During the day, the panel absorbs sunlight, keeping the battery charged and eliminating the need for periodic manual recharging from an outlet.

Thanks to Wi-Fi connectivity, full control of the camera can be managed through a mobile application. Through it, the user can access settings, view live streams remotely, move the lens remotely, and receive alerts whenever there is movement in the monitored area.

All recorded material is stored on the device's internal memory (8 GB), without additional costs for cloud storage services. The video history can be accessed via the app at any time; however, the storage is not expandable, forcing the user to delete old videos to free up space.

The camera uses two independent lenses that work together to capture high-definition images. One lens provides a wide view of the environment, while the second allows zooming in on specific details without compromising image sharpness.

It has a rotating base that spins 360 degrees horizontally and tilts vertically. The system is capable of detecting the passage of people or vehicles and automatically adjusts the lens to follow the path while recording the scene.

Additionally, the model includes integrated lights for color recording at night, a speaker and microphone for door communication, and an alarm that can be triggered to deter suspects. There is also integration with voice assistants.

This equipment remains active even in case of residential power outages, as the solar panel continuously keeps the battery charged. The combination of rotating lenses and lossless zoom ensures clear images and comprehensive security coverage. It is ideal for those who need to monitor open spaces, such as yards, garages, balconies, or facades, and wish to avoid hiring an electrician for cable routing.

Conversely, the limited storage of only 8 GB can be restrictive, and the lack of a microSD card slot prevents internal space expansion, which is a negative point for those who need to archive videos for long periods. Additionally, the tracking system has limitations and may cause confusion when multiple people pass simultaneously in opposite directions.
