Residents of Mirjapur express gratitude to IAS Divya Mittal after her departure, noting her significant achievements

The residents of Mirjapur are experiencing strong emotions regarding the departure of IAS Divya Mittal, who previously headed districts such as Dewariya and Mirjapur. Local residents recall her work, especially in the village of Lahriyadah, located on the Vindhya Hills in the village of Dramdanganj, which belongs to the Lalganj district.

Thanks to the special efforts of Divya Mittal, water supply was provided to every house for the first time in this village, home to about 800 people, on August 31, 2023. This village had long suffered from a severe water crisis, forcing residents to either draw water from mountain sources or transport it from Hanuman in Madhya Pradesh state. Previously, the administration only provided residents with 15 liters of water per person via a card using tankers.

Due to its location in mountainous terrain, the problem of access to drinking water in Lahriyadah village was extremely acute, and the situation worsened during the hot months. According to local resident Lallan, people often spent time in the forests searching for water, relying on containers. Women were forced to fetch only half a liter or one liter of water from the well.

As the district official of Mirjapur, IAS Divya Mittal paid attention to this village's problem and took special steps under the 'Jal Jeevan Mission' and 'Har Ghar Nal Yojana' programs. On August 31, 2023, a pipeline was laid in the village for the first time, ensuring that every house now has a tap, and residents have been freed from the water problem.

After the announcement of Divya Mittal's departure, the villagers remember the old times with deep sadness. Residents like Ramkali, Shila, and Chausaria claim that Divya Mittal became like a goddess to them. In the opinion of the locals, the village will never forget this blessing, and they hope that officials like her will visit the district again in the future.

Karnataka Minister B. Nagendra resigned, stating he was targeted due to his Dalit caste affiliation

Congressman B. Nagendra, who was involved in the scandal with the Maharshi Valmiki Corporation for the development of indigenous peoples of Karnataka, announced his resignation. He made this decision amid corruption allegations and aggressive attacks from the opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Announcing his resignation, B. Nagendra categorically rejected the accusations leveled against him. He stated: 'Are there any of my signatures in any transactions of the Valmiki Corporation? I am being persecuted only because I belong to the Dalit caste.'

He also criticized the opposition, claiming that a thousand lies are spread against him daily. Nagendra raised questions regarding banks, noting: 'Banks were involved in this matter. If banks are involved, doesn't the Union Finance Minister bear responsibility for it? The people of Karnataka see everything.'

The situation began in May 2024 after the suicide of the Chief Accountant of the Corporation, P. Chandrashearan, when information about unauthorized transactions amounting to 89.63 crore rupees surfaced. At that time, Nagendra, who held the post of Minister for Tribal Affairs, left his position in June 2024.

However, on August 3, 2026, he was reincluded in the cabinet, receiving the portfolio of the Department of Planning and Statistics. Following this, the BJP and JD(S) began protests, demanding his resignation, holding rallies both in parliament and on the streets. Both opposition parties also announced foot marches from Raichur to Ballari from September 1 to 10.

Now, assessing the prevailing situation, Nagendra himself announced his resignation. He stated that he would meet with Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar and submit his resignation at a press conference after discussing it with him.
