Lionel Richie was hospitalized in the intensive care unit following a performance in St. Louis, marking the second instance of health issues in just over two months.
According to TMZ, the 77-year-old singer sought treatment at a local hospital on August 29 after his concert at The Muny for examinations. Medical staff are reportedly investigating possible mild dehydration, but an official diagnosis has not yet been established.
TMZ also reported that during the performance of 'All Night Long,' Richie asked his crew to bring him a chair closer to the end of the concert. He managed to finish the performance before seeking medical attention.
A source close to Richie's tour told Rolling Stone that the singer is 'fine,' thereby reassuring the public about his condition after his hospital stay.
This hospitalization occurred after Richie experienced another episode of feeling unwell during a concert in St. Paul, Minnesota, in June.
According to the Minnesota Star Tribune, during the performance, Richie told the audience that he felt 'dizzy' and 'strange.' He subsequently left the stage early, and his next two concerts in Chicago and Columbus were postponed upon medical advice.
Richie later returned to the stage and assured fans of his well-being via an Instagram post. He wrote: 'Thank you for every message, every kind word, and for all your love. I feel good and am grateful to all of you.'
Richie's representatives have not yet made a public statement regarding the reason for his recent hospitalization. TMZ contacted his representatives but had not received a response at the time of publication.
The singer's next scheduled performance is in San Francisco as part of his tour with Earth, Wind & Fire. No changes to upcoming concerts have been announced following the hospitalization.
