The World Health Organization (WHO) has adjusted its recommendations regarding the conjugated vaccine against typhoid (TCV). This change comes amid the rise in antibiotic resistance.
It is estimated that nearly five million cases of typhoid were registered in India in 2023, with a significant portion of the infected being children.
WHO now recommends administering the first dose of this vaccine to children aged 9 to 24 months in regions where there is a high or very high incidence of typhoid fever.
