The Grammy Award-winning musician Lionel Richie was reportedly hospitalized in the intensive care unit following a performance last weekend.
According to reports, the 77-year-old artist asked his team to bring him a chair during the concert in St. Louis, Missouri, which took place on August 29th. During this performance, he performed the song 'All Night Long.'
TMZ reported that Richie voluntarily went to the hospital out of precaution to undergo necessary examinations shortly after the show. He was under observation in the intensive care unit and remained hospitalized until Monday, August 31st.
This source claims that Richie is expected to be discharged from the hospital on Tuesday. Currently, Richie is participating in his 'Sing a Song All Night Long' tour with the group Earth, Wind & Fire, and the next scheduled performance is on September 26th in San Francisco.
Earlier, at the end of June, the singer had to postpone two concerts after feeling unwell right on stage during the first night of the tour. According to the Minnesota Star Tribune, while performing 'Dancing on the Ceiling' at the opening night of the tour in St. Paul, Richie began to feel dizzy and sat down on stage before hastily leaving the performance.
About 40 minutes later, saxophonist Dino Soldo returned to the audience and announced, 'Unfortunately, Lionel is not feeling well. He will not be able to continue. Further information will be available.'
When he returned to the stage on June 30th, Richie joked with fans, 'You have no idea what I've been through in the last 24 hours listening to friends' advice on what I should do.' Later, he posted on Instagram: 'Thank you for every message, every kind word, and all your love. I am feeling well and grateful to all of you.' He added: 'Pittsburgh and Detroit were an absolute pleasure. The energy, the dancing, the faces in the crowd... we created real memories together. See you in Toronto... let's party all night.' At the time of publication, Richie's representatives did not comment publicly on the situation.
