Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) announced an increase in the price of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) on Tuesday. The company raised the cost of 19-kilogram commercial cylinders by 9.50 rupees, and this increase takes effect today, September 1st, across the country.
Additionally, the price of a non-domestic 5-kilogram LPG cylinder was increased by 2 rupees per kilogram. The 5-kilogram LPG cylinder will now cost 764 rupees. Notably, manufacturers have not changed the prices for 14.2-kilogram domestic gas cylinders, which is a relief for ordinary consumers.
Following the price hike for commercial LPG, the 19-kilogram cylinder in Delhi will now cost 2,747.50 rupees. Similarly, in Mumbai, the price for a commercial cylinder will be 2,701 rupees, and in Chennai, it will be 2,916.50 rupees. The largest price increase for this cylinder was recorded in Kolkata, where the price rose by 11.50 rupees to reach 2,884 rupees.
In Bangalore and Tiruvannampur, the price of the 19-kilogram cylinder increased by 10 rupees per unit, amounting to 2,784 and 2,831 rupees, respectively. In Bhubaneswar, the price rose by 11 rupees to 2,919 rupees, and in Hyderabad, it increased by 11 rupees to reach 2,996 rupees.
In Patna, the cost of a commercial LPG cylinder exceeded the 3000 rupee mark. After the new increase, the price of this cylinder in Bihar is set at 3,029 rupees. This LPG price hike will take effect in all cities across the country starting today.
Starting September 1st, in addition to LPG prices, the value of aviation turbine fuel (ATF) for domestic airlines was also increased. Its price rose by 6.28 rupees, reaching 121.28 rupees per liter.
This price increase occurred amid energy supply pressures related to the ongoing Middle East conflict, as well as rising crude oil costs faced by state-owned companies. Despite these challenges, IOC stated that it has increased LPG production by 30 percent and is keeping its refineries operating at over 100 percent capacity.
