TARS raises $455 million in Pre-A round, setting a record in China's embodied AI sector

TARS has successfully completed a Pre-A funding round of $455 million (equivalent to approximately 3.3 billion yuan), thereby setting a new record for the largest single-round financing in China's embodied artificial intelligence sector.

In a short period, just one year, the company rapidly became a leading player in this industry. This is the second time TARS has managed to break a financing record in the sector. Previously, in the second quarter of 2025, the company raised $242 million (approximately 1.75 billion yuan) in what was then the largest angel round in China's embodied AI history. After one year, TARS once again raised the bar, achieving both the largest Pre-A round and the largest single-round financing in this sector.

This round was significantly oversubscribed, indicating high confidence from leading domestic and international investors. The investment base covers four main categories of participants.

The round was co-led by Hillhouse Ventures and HSG (formerly Sequoia China), with participation from Meituan Long-Z Fund, CICC Capital, Kailian Capital, Oriental Fortune Capital, and Junshan Investment.

Meituan Strategic Investment increased its stake as a cornerstone investor and co-led the round. Existing investors, including Qiming Venture Partners, Linear Capital, BlueRun Ventures, Xianghe Capital, and Hongtai Aplus, also increased their investments.

TCL Capital, Future Capital, Shoucheng Holdings (0697.HK), C&D Emerging Investment, Hengxu Capital, and China Auto Investment joined the round, supporting commercialization across various application scenarios.

Beijing Robotics Industry Development Investment Fund and Shanghai Guotou Pioneer Fund jointly invested in the embodied AI company for the first time, aligning with China's '15th Five-Year Plan' in robotics and helping TARS become a leader in regional embodied AI ecosystems.
