Sensex rises by 100 points before market open, Nifty below 24,100; Asian markets decline

At the start of trading on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, the Nifty50 and Sensex indices showed mixed dynamics. Most markets in the Asia-Pacific region opened lower.

The dynamic was driven by rising oil prices following the resumption of tit-for-tat exchanges between the US and Iran in West Asia. Markets in the Asia-Pacific region traded in a downtrend amid escalating geopolitical tensions. Investors were assessing the announcement by Nvidia Corp. regarding an investment of $3.5 billion in MediaTek Inc.

The Japanese Nikkei 225 fell by 0.46 percent, while the Korean Kospi traded with little change but a negative bias. Overnight, the Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped by 0.7 percent, and the S&P 500 fell by 0.33 percent. The Nasdaq Composite closed 0.12 percent lower.

Oil prices continued to rise as the US and Iran exchanged blows for the first time in about a month in the Strait of Hormuz, intensifying existing tensions. October futures traded 0.18 percent higher on the Intercontinental Exchange, reaching $90.90 per barrel.

Gold and silver futures also showed growth: gold rose by 0.22 percent, and silver by 0.48 percent.

Initial Public Offerings (IPOs)

Tuesday saw the opening of subscriptions for Initial Public Offerings (IPOs) from Deepa Jewellers and Rays of Belief. Fly-Hi Maritime and Farm Peace IPOs will also open for subscription on the same day. Purple Style Labs will begin its second day of subscription on Tuesday. In the SME segment, three IPOs will begin their second day of subscription: Ashutosh Fibre, Shanti Inorganics, and Phychem Technologies. Meanwhile, Priority Jewels and ESDS Software Solutions are in the final day of subscription. Similarly, Complete Sports and Management and Paluck Technologies will also open their final subscription day.

Stock Market Update: Nifty 50 at 24,077 before market open

The Nifty 50 index finished the pre-market session at a steady level with a negative bias, showing a value of 24,077.55, corresponding to a decrease of 2.85 points or 0.01 percent.

Meanwhile, the BSE Sensex benchmark increased its figure by 36.84 points or 0.05 percent, reaching 76,994.11 by the end of the pre-market session.

According to Bloomberg data, the rupee opened 14 points stronger against the US dollar, reaching 95.03, compared to Monday's close at 95.17.

Kotak Securities noted that Computer Age Management Services (CAMS) and Kalpataru Projects International are under focus for short-term prospects, as analysts have observed positive factors for these stocks.

ITC, Happiest Minds, ICICI Bank, PVR Inox, and Cipla shares were also in the spotlight.

Stock Market Update: GIFT Nifty at 24,189

GIFT Nifty was recorded at 24,188.5, representing a decline of 63 points.

It is worth noting that the Reserve Bank of India's currency forward portfolio reached a record $136.7 billion in July. This growth was spurred by an increase in foreign deposits following central bank measures aimed at attracting dollar inflows and supporting the rupee.

Stock Market Update: Oil Prices Continue to Rise

As mentioned earlier, the rise in oil prices occurred due to the exchange of blows between the US and Iran in the Strait of Hormuz, which once again heightened tensions. October futures traded 0.18 percent higher on the Intercontinental Exchange, amounting to $90.90 per barrel.

Asia-Pacific markets declined due to increased geopolitical tension, while investors analyzed Nvidia Corp.'s announcement of a $3.5 billion investment in MediaTek Inc., with Japan's Nikkei 225 falling by 0.46 percent, and South Korea's Kospi trading with slight fluctuations but a negative inclination.

Following an unsatisfactory session on Wall Street the previous day, US stock futures traded slightly higher in the morning on Tuesday as traders assessed inflation risk and growth concerns amid new tensions between the US and Iran. Dow Jones and S&P 500 futures rose by 0.09 and 0.07 percent, respectively.
