The movie Toy Story 5 will be exclusively available on Disney+ starting September 23rd, after being a major box office success in 2026. This new adventure from Disney and Pixar brings back Woody, Buzz Lightyear, Jessie, and other characters from the franchise.
Since its theatrical release in June, the production has generated over US$ 1.1 billion (equivalent to about R$ 5.9 billion) globally. Specifically in Latin America, the film surpassed the US$ 200 million mark (approximately R$ 1.1 billion) and was watched by over 42 million people.
The film's reception was very positive from both the public and critics, receiving Certified Fresh and Verified Hot certifications from Rotten Tomatoes, in addition to achieving an A rating from CinemaScore.
Along with the film's arrival on the platform, there is the release of a new music video for the song “I Knew It, I Knew You,” performed by Taylor Swift. This clip uses scenes from Toy Story 5 and presents a piano reinterpretation of the track. The music video is already available on Disney+, Spotify, and Apple Music.
The original song was composed and produced by Swift in collaboration with Jack Antonoff. The single reached number one on the charts and set new records.
With the inclusion of Toy Story 5, all five films in the franchise are now part of the collection available on Disney+. According to Disney data, Toy Story has accumulated over two billion hours of worldwide playback on the platform, consolidating itself as the most-watched cinematic franchise on the service.
The new film expands on the narrative of previous movies by bringing together the already known characters and introducing a new generation of toys. The direction is by Oscar winner Andrew Stanton, with co-direction by Kenna Harris. The production features Lindsey Collins, pga, and Jessica Choi, pga, while the script was written by Stanton and Harris, based on a story by Stanton.
