MBBS session for the 2026-27 batch may be postponed by a week due to NEET consultation extension

The MBBS academic session for the 2026-27 batch, which was originally scheduled to start on September 8, is likely to be postponed by about one week. This is because the NEET-UG consultation schedule has been extended amid legal proceedings and student requests for additional time for college admissions.

The second round of consultations was extended until September 18, and subsequent rounds are expected to continue in October. An official representative of the Ministry of Health noted that the delay is likely to be minor, and the academic session might begin around September 15, even without waiting for the completion of the entire consultation process.

Reasons contributing to the schedule extension include two or three lawsuits, students' pleas for more time for enrollment, and difficulties with travel under the All India Quota.
