The bodies of three family members—a five-year-old girl with a disability and her parents—were discovered inside a house in Rome, in the Pietralata district, reports the Italian news agency ANSA. There is suspicion of murder following suicide.
Relatives of the victims reported the discovery after being unable to contact them, prompting emergency services and firefighters to arrive at the scene. Carabinieri (the Italian military police) have also begun investigating the incident.
A family dog was also found dead at the scene. The family was found in the bedroom. It is currently unknown who fired the weapon found in the house, which was legally owned; however, according to Italian press, a note was found at the scene. Nevertheless, it is not yet possible to determine which spouse fired the shots.
According to reports, all three were shot, and the hypothesis of murder followed by suicide has not been ruled out. The disabled girl lived with her father, aged 42, and her mother, aged 41.
The victims are Luca Ambascandolo, 42, a technical specialist, Valentina Pambianco, 41, and the couple's daughter, Bianca, who is soon to turn 6. Local press also reports that the family was under the observation of social services.
