With the onset of the rainy season, the problem of insects in homes increases, such as seasonal pests, flying termites, mosquitoes, and cockroaches (keds), due to increased humidity, dampness, and flooding. When evening comes and the lights are turned on inside the house, hundreds of winged insects penetrate through windows and doors. Furthermore, cockroaches begin to appear from kitchen sinks, drains, and dark corners, contaminating food and creating a risk of dangerous infections and diseases.
Commercial chemical insecticide sprays can be harmful to small children and people with respiratory illnesses. In such cases, a very effective and safe homemade cleaning agent can be prepared using certain natural ingredients, which, thanks to its strong odor and action, will force pests to flee.
Solution of white vinegar, dish soap, and baking soda:
To prepare this solution, you need: 1 cup of water, 1/2 cup of white vinegar, 1 teaspoon of liquid detergent (dish soap), and 1 teaspoon of baking soda. These components should be mixed in a spray bottle and thoroughly stirred.
The application of this mixture involves direct spraying in areas where cockroaches or insects appear. The vinegar and detergent block the insects' breathing holes, forcing them either to run away or die. It is recommended to spray it daily at night along windows and near sink drains.
Solution of frankincense, neon oil, and detergent:
For the second option, take: 1 cup of warm water, crushed frankincense granules (camphor) — 4-5 pieces, 1 teaspoon of neon oil, and 1/2 teaspoon of detergent powder. The crushed frankincense, neon oil, and detergent must be dissolved in warm water, and then the mixture poured into a spray bottle.
The strong smell of frankincense and neon oil affects the nervous system of cockroaches and flying seasonal insects. This solution should be sprayed near main doors, around fluorescent lamps, and in dark corners.
Firstly, lighting needs to be controlled: windows and doors should be kept closed in the evening. If there is a large number of flying insects, you can temporarily turn off the main light sources and turn on a weak light in a far corner to attract insects outside.
Secondly, a fine mesh should be installed on the drain lines of the kitchen and bathroom sinks, as cockroaches most often enter the house through sewage pipes.
Thirdly, it is important to maintain cleanliness and dryness: do not leave dirty dishes in the sink overnight, and wipe kitchen countertops with water and vinegar, keeping them dry.
