P. L. Udaya Kumar, an engineer, is engaged in preserving the lost history of the city of Bengaluru. He has conducted work to document over 1500 inscribed stones and has achieved digital preservation of more than 600 such stones in Bengaluru.
According to Kumar, however, the true significance of his work lies not only in the number of preserved inscribed stones. It is important to show people that history exists not only in major monuments but also in the areas where people live, on the streets they walk every day, and in stories hidden in plain sight.
The demonstration of this engineer's work shows how technology is being used to protect centuries-old heritage and inspires people to rediscover the history lying right under their feet.
