Unions reported that the suspension of the strike by Airbus Spain workers was rejected by a majority of 81.2% of votes, surpassing 16.4% in favor and 2.4% abstentions.
Airbus has approximately 14,000 employees spread across various manufacturing units, including Getafe, Illescas, Albacete, Cadiz, in addition to centers located in Tablada and San Pablo, in the city of Seville.
Negotiations are scheduled to resume next Tuesday, mediated by the Interconfederal Service for Mediation and Arbitration (Sima), as agreed the previous week. However, the company itself conditioned the resumption of talks on the cessation of the mobilization.
Union representatives expressed their intention to attend the meeting, pending verification of whether the company will honor its threats.
During the meeting held last Thursday, Airbus Spain management refused the suggestion of salary adjustments presented by the unions, even after improving its initial offer.
In an internal communication released to the Efe agency, the company defended its latest proposal on Friday. This package includes linking salaries to inflation and a 7.6% increase to be distributed over five years, aiming to compensate for the loss of purchasing power.
Additionally, the company promised an extra 0.5% for annual salary review and another 0.5% for promotions, along with an extraordinary payment of 2,000 euros.
In the correspondence, Airbus Spain stated that its purpose is to reach an agreement 'beneficial for all', achieved 'through dialogue'. The company also considers that the current proposal establishes 'a solid basis for a lasting agreement', aligned with the points raised by social partners and workers.
However, the company warned that maintaining the strike generates 'a critical situation both for the business and for customers'. The stoppage at Airbus Spain began on August 25.
