Savanna is organizing the South African Comedy Festival, where Trevor Noah serves as the captain of the comedy lineup. This festival offers a premium arena comedy experience based on witty, dry humor and an authentic South African perspective.
South Africa is known for its rich comedic material, drawn from everyday situations such as taxi commentary, analysis of group chats, and unexpected life twists. This is why the country needs a national team of comedians.
In September, the Comedy Festival featuring Trevor Noah and the Bafunny Bafunny team will take place at SunBet Arena in Pretoria, SunCoast in Durban, and Grand West in Cape Town. The concert program is curated and headed by Trevor Noah himself.
Savanna, which has supported South Africa's sharp and dry humor for three decades, presents this event not just as a show, but as a national gathering to celebrate the talents that make South Africa uniquely funny.
The team was selected for their stage mastery, cultural insight, and ability to engage audiences. The lineup combines various styles of South African humor—from street life observation to spectacular large-arena performances. With the assistance of vice-captain Eugene Khoza, the program blends street, kasi, and 'burbs humor with high-class arena performances.
Captain Trevor Noah stated that the selection of the best artists to represent the South African National Comedy Team promises to be an explosive experience worth waiting for fans.
The cast includes artists such as Eugene Khoza, a six-language stage veteran and renowned cultural commentator. Tabiso Mkhlongo, a screenwriter specializing in satirizing the social classes of Mzansi, and Lindi Johnson, whose observations reflect the pulse of local humor, are also featured. Punch Gasela will bring energetic physical comedy, while Mbali Gudazi, winner of the Jive Funny Competition 2025, is a self-sufficient force in comedy.
Trevor Noah emphasized that they are presenting world-class stand-up in Pretoria, Durban, and Cape Town, and it will be a demonstration of elite comedic skill without any guarantees. He urged viewers to purchase tickets in advance on Quicket, as there will be no repeats after the performance.
Vice-captain Eugene Khoza added that viewers should not hesitate but immediately book seats before they run out. Tickets are exclusively available on Quicket.co.za.
The festival is scheduled for the following dates: Pretoria on September 4 and 5, 2026, at SunBet Arena; Durban on September 19, 2026, at SunCoast; and Cape Town on September 25 and 26, 2026, at GrandWest.
