LG presented a significant update to its smart home proposal at IFA 2026 by introducing ThinQ Claw. This new artificial intelligence agent uses text conversation to understand requests and orchestrate various home appliances and services.
The ThinQ Claw technology analyzes multiple factors, including routine, schedule, environment, and how devices are used, with the goal of reducing the need for the user to manually configure commands. The agent was evolved from the OpenClaw concept and integrated into LG's AI Home system.
Context and Planning Features
According to the company itself, ThinQ Claw has the ability to interpret a request considering the specific context in which it occurs. A practical example shown by LG is preparing the residence to receive guests, where the system assists in controlling the appliances involved in this preparation.
Another illustrated scenario is the arrival of the resident; the agent can check the temperature and air quality beforehand and, based on these conditions, propose appropriate actions. Furthermore, this feature integrates with calendars and other external services. Thus, instead of creating long sequences of automations, the user can simply communicate their plans through the chat, and the system still stores preferences and aversions to guide future interactions.
LG also took advantage of IFA to display Homey, a platform acquired by the company in 2024 and belonging to Athom. This platform allows consolidating products from different manufacturers and services into a single user interface.
Energy Management and New Launches
One of the demonstrations focused on the Home Energy Management System (HEMS). This tool establishes a connection between smart meters, solar panels, batteries, electric vehicle chargers, and appliances, allowing monitoring of energy production, storage, and consumption. LG states that this coordination can contribute to reducing electricity costs and may also take into account dynamic energy prices in the locations where the model is implemented.
Among the other items presented at the fair, the LG ThinQ Pro stands out, debuting in the European market. This solution is aimed at both multi-family residences and commercial environments, offering advanced facility and device management functionalities.
The security of the ecosystem is guaranteed by LG Shield, a framework dedicated to protecting customer data, as well as connected services and appliances. ThinQ Claw represents the subsequent advancement of LG AI Home, demonstrating how AI can understand the client's intention and life context to provide a simpler and more personalized daily experience.
Baek Seung-tae, president of LG Home Appliance Solution Company, commented on the advancement. ThinQ Claw will be displayed in the LG AI Home Zone during IFA 2026, along with other applications of the ecosystem.
