Ananda Shelter Provides High-Quality Care and Safe Living Space for Elderly Dogs

For most aging stray dogs in India, life's final chapter is marked by neglect; they perish on sidewalks, in traffic, or in overcrowded shelters that struggle to cope with the number of animals.

However, at Ananda, a modern retirement home for senior dogs, the situation is different: the animals receive everything they need—a warm bed, access to a swimming pool, assistance from experienced veterinarians, and a medical facility comparable to a human clinic. It features digital X-ray, an operating room, a biochemical laboratory, isolation wards, and an on-call ambulance.

The essence of Ananda is providing vulnerable animals with a safe space to recover and receive care. Meena Subrahmanyam, president of Prayas Trust, noted: 'Animals that have been abandoned, injured, or left unattended deserve a safe place where they can heal and receive kindness and dignity. Ananda is a small contribution to creating such a space.'

Ananda is a project of Prayas Trust, which is the women's social and charitable wing of Larsen & Toubro (L&T), operating in partnership with L&T.
